- Slice ripe tomatoes into thick rounds, slice mozzarella to match, and wash and dry basil leaves.
- Place tomato slices on a serving platter and alternate with mozzarella slices.
- Tuck fresh basil leaves between and around the tomato and mozzarella layers.
- Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, add balsamic glaze if desired, then let rest 10–15 minutes before serving.
