  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips _ Or chopped dark chocolate
  • 3 tablespoon Cornstarch _ Thickens custard
  • 2 tablespoon Unsalted butter _ Vegan butter works too
  • 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract _ Almond extract 3 drops deepens flavor
  • 1 pinch Salt _ Balances sweetness
For the Crust
  • 1 9- inch Pre-baked pie shell _ Store-bought or homemade

Method
 

  1. Bake and cool pie crust. Separate egg yolks. Measure all ingredients. Set strainer near stove.

  2. Base Heat milk + cream until steaming. Whisk yolks + sugar. Combine cocoa + cornstarch. Keep chocolate chips ready.

  3. Slowly whisk hot milk into yolks, then return mixture to pot. Cook until custard coats spoon (5–7 min).

  4. Remove from heat, stir cocoa mixture, add chocolate chips, strain, whisk in butter + vanilla.
