Hibiscus Tea Recipe

A refreshing ruby-red Hibiscus Tea Recipe made with dried hibiscus petals. Naturally tart like cranberry juice, caffeine-free, and customizable with sweeteners, spices, or citrus. Delicious hot in winter or iced in summer.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup Dried hibiscus petals - About 2 tablespoon per cup of water
  • 4 cups Water - For brewing
  • 2–3 tablespoon Honey or agave - To taste
  • 1 stick Cinnamon - Optional warming flavor
  • 2–3 slices Fresh ginger - Optional adds spice
  • Few leaves Fresh mint - Optional garnish or post-straining
  • 1 wedge Lemon or lime - For brightness optional
  • As needed Ice cubes - For iced or quick brew

  • 1 Large pot/kettle (For boiling water)
  • 1 Fine mesh strainer (Or tea infuser to remove petals)
  • 1 Pitcher (For iced or cold brew storage)
  • 4 Mugs/Glasses (Serving hot or iced)

Method
 

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil in a large pot or kettle.
    Straining hot hibiscus tea through a fine mesh strainer into a glass mug, with dried hibiscus petals placed beside it.
  2. Remove from heat and add ½ cup dried hibiscus petals.

  3. Cover and steep 10–15 minutes (hot brew) or 2–4 hours (cold brew).

  4. Strain petals using fine-mesh strainer; add honey, agave, or sugar.
